Hello,

I have a 180 Post mount fork and 180mm (shimano) disc, I was using a Shimano SLX bolted directly to the fork with no adapter.

Now I have a Guide RE I'd like to use instead but despite reading the SRAM manual and thinking the Guide RE should bolt directly to the fork with no adapter it doesn't work, there's about a 5mm gap or else it fouls on the disc.

I think maybe I need the SRAM/Avid 20P adapter, but some sites state that is for 180mm > 200mm use?? Or do I need to suck it up and buy the Centreline rotor??

Fricking hate "standards".

EDIT: I think the manual for the Guide RE is showing you a Guide caliper, not a Code caliper - which is what you have.

Do SRAM brakes not need the tri-align washers? (e.g old canti brake pad conical washers) - They add about 5mm of height...

They don't.... but I think the RE caliper may. I can't find a good diagram, but I think you're right for the RE.

Ahhh yes! It's the old Avid caliper, not the SRAM Code caliper.

So - yes, it needs the CPS hardware.

OP - if you google SRAM CPS you'll find a load of options.

It seems to exist to allow for shite manufacturing tolerance on the adaptor and/or brake. You may get away with just spacing it out if you don’t have 4 sets of the CPS washers
