Just a quick one, I've just picked up a 2nd hand HT and it's got 1x12 Eagle on it with the 1st gen X01 rear mech and the 10/50 cassette and a 32t chainring which are all pretty worn.

I've ordered a new 34t chainring as a 32 is too spinny for me and picked up a new chain, the question I have is the first gen X01 rear mech compatible with the new 10-52 Eagle cassettes as my local shop has these in.

All SRAM parts labelled as Eagle are compatible with each other, so (for instance)  a GX eagle mech will work on a NX eagle cassette. It your X01 mech is eagle, it should work ok.

‘Officially’, no, the older eagle mechs won’t work with the 10-52. I’ve not heard of anyone having issues with using them together though.

Much like ‘single use’ quicklinks, I imagine.

The original 1st gen eagle derailleurs that say 500% on them don't support the 52t cassette.

Whether they actually work or not. I'm not sure, never tried it. But officially, they don't.

I believe that they're (1st gen mech and 52 cassette) not compatible - happy to be proven wrong.

I asked in said shop and the mechanic chap said it kind of works, but shifting can be terrible as you need just a few extra turns of B Tension and it buggers up the shifting back down the cassette, as in its not quick and a bit notchy, so I'll be ordering a 10-50

Second gen Eagle derailleurs are a slightly different shape to wrap more chain around the sprocket. That's how it copes with 52T without needing an extra-long B-tension screw.
