Hi everyone,
I’m experiencing an issue with my Eagle AXS rear derailleur battery. After completing a charge cycle, the app shows the battery as fully charged, but the MasterMind TCU on my Specialized Turbo displays a "rear derailleur battery low" warning message. Additionally, the derailleur itself shows a red LED indicator.
I’ve updated the firmware and recharged the battery, but the warning persists.
Has anyone else encountered a similar issue? If so, is it fixable?
Thanks!
One of my AXS batteries was showing as low not long after a full charge. Changed the pogo pins in one of the rear mechs as I though that was the issue. It would show as back up to full charge if I took it out the mech and put it back in, but soon went to red again, and gave constant warnings on the KSL.
It wasn't the pins - it was the battery which was 4.5 years old and has had a lot of use. New battery fixed it.
The batteries can degrade over time... We found it was even worse on bikes used in cold/wet weather.
Have you got another battery you can use to check the system is working okay?
How old is it??
Thanks for the replies, the battery & mech are just over 2 years old - didn't realise I'd had them that long! So a new battery will likely fix it and yes it is indeed used in both cold and wet conditions.
The miscommunication between mech / app / bike is a bit weird though.
I just had to replace my 6 month old SRAM reach mech battery. Very disappointing, but hopefully there won’t be a hassle getting it replaced under warrranty.
just to add, I wouldn't bother saving cash by buying a cheapo non-original battery - I bought a couple of them to save cash (£50 per battery is clearly a ripoff) when building up my axs bike, but they don't last as long and the mech fails to give off low battery warnings, so you get stuck with no shifting in the middle of no-where. All works fine when I stumped up for the proper batteries
Just a thought..
Can you do the wired in battery mod on the Specialized Ebikes??
If i could do that, I think its the first thing i'd do.
