Just swapped my SRAM 2x10 chainset across to new frame that takes a direct high mount FD and I can't fit the derailleur high enough to clear the outer chainring.

I'm running 42/28 chainrings, and knew things wouldn't be perfect as the new direct mount FD is marked '36-38T'. My previous SRAM FD was also marked 36-38T, but as it's band-on mount, I was able to install it high enough to clear the 42, so hadn't considered it a compatibility issue.

So it's clear I need to get a smaller outer chainring, question is, will a 38T be too large still ?

Q: Please can someone measure the outer diameter of a 120BCD 38T chainring (tip of tooth to tip of tooth) and I'll see if it'll fit.

cheers, Ben.
