So ive got 3 Sram GX AXS rear mechs sharing two AXS batteries
In the Sram app ive got the 3 bikes set up with their own profiles
The 3 shifters all connect to the app straight away to their respective bikes and have no issues
When i try to connect any one of the two batteries to the mech its fitted to it can be tempermental in connecting, sometimes it takes a while to connect, other times it just says connecting and never actual connects
Ive tried all the usual online proceedures like remove the battery, hold the mechs AXS button down for a few seconds, close the app fully by swiping it away, disconnect bluetooth on the phone, restart bluetooth, fit battery, press AXS button till the light flashes then open the app which they say should make it connect but when i try this its still hit and miss if it will connect to the bike in the appÂ
Removing the other battery from the mech its in and placing far away from the one im trying to connect to makes no difference
Shifting is all fine its purely just getting the rear mech to connect to the app quickly everytime that is the issue
So any ideas?
I'm not sure I'm understanding the issue...as long as the mech has a battery it has power. Do you give the bike a shake to waken it all up (or press the mech axs button to waken it)?
Mine seems to connect within about 5 seconds...
Everything is awake and everything works ok just the mech takes a while to connect in the app or dosent connect at all, im wondering if the issue is having 2 batteries for 3 mechs, next thing to try is move the other two AXS bikes and the one battery they share out of range of the app/bluetooth etc.. and see what happens when i connect the one AXS mecah and battery that will be in range of bluetooth
The number of batteries makes no difference as each mech can only use 1 battery at a time and the battery is dumb on the axs system, so it doesn't care which battery is used when.
How close is phone to bike? Mine sits on my saddle and it reacts very quickly.
And a cable is no use as it won't plug into mech or phone...
So the issue looks to be that for some reason when using the AXS app the bike profile im using is trying to pair the mech on that bike and also trying to pair to the other bike's mech to the one profileÂ
According to Sram this its not possible to have two mechs paired to the same shifter and profile in the app, so not sure why its doing this, also one mech say it needs a firmware update, if i install the update everything goes smoothly and it says update installed, next time i connect the app to that mech it wants to install the update again, its installed the same update 3 times now, each time saying it was successfulÂ
Even deleting all the bikes, deleteing the app and upairing everything then re downloading the app and starting afresh pairing everything and assigning a bike in the app still causes the same issue
When not connected to the app all bikes function like normal and have no shifting issues

Does it back up your dodgy profile in the cloud and pull it back in when you log-on afresh? This guess is based on my phone app knowledge, not AXS expertise as I have none!
So do you move the shifter between bikes? Does the app remember which mech it was last attached to? If so, if you are checking the app for updates for the shifter then leave it on last connected bike whilst using the app.
The adjustments are all made to and stored on the mech, so it won't matter what bike and mech the shifter is connected to for app updates.
If bikes in same room then they can connect at same time (or near enough) - you switch bike profiles and connect the devices for that bike, just don't need to connect the shifter on one of them.
The dodgy profile isnt backed upto the cloud, when i unpair and delete everything and start afresh nothing shows up in the app until i follow the pairing process
Each bike has its own shifter and mech, the only thing they share is the battery
Â
The battery in the mech? If so, it makes no difference. Are you checking bike 1, keeping app open and swapping battery to check bike 2 and waiting for the app to detect the change?
If so, have you tried checking bike 1 then closing app completely, swapping battery to bike 2 and then starting the app afresh?
I don't have this issue, which is why I'm asking daft questions. I have the battery connecting to bike 1 and I start the app, wake the bike up and I can connect mech and shifter. I check the firmware is up-to-date and then I unplug the battery and plug into bike 2. I then go back to the main axs app screen and select the second bike and I then shake the bike to wake it up (or if I'm still down at the mech, I hit the axs button) and after a couple.of seconds I can then connect on the app and do my firmware checks).
It all.works with no delays for me...
i have 2 gravel bikes with AXS shifting, plus an AXS reverb on one of them. Sometimes I do need to move one of them to another room it they are both awake, in order to interrogate the one I want to. That said, as they are set up in the App 'garage' as different bikes it doesn't often get confused.
I did have an issue when I was swopping out one rear mech to a spare while waiting for new jockey wheel bearings for the original one, and i did end up having to delete that mech entirely to pair the replacement one, though in hindsight that was pretty logical !
So after uninstalling the app and unpairing everything, reinstalling the app and re pairing each bike's AXS components to each bike's profile in the app everything is now ok

Still have the issue where one mech is stuck in a firmware update loop, trying to install the firmware version it already has installed, this looks to be warranty issue (luckily that particular mech is only 6 months old) so im speaking to Sram about that
You can force a firmware reset on the one with the firmware issue.
1. Ensure the device is running the latest update of the SRAM AXS app (2.27.0).
2. Power cycle the device that is being used to access the AXS app (restart the device).
3. Open the AXS app, and ensure all permissions are enabled.
4. Remove the battery from your rear derailleur.
5. Press and hold the AXS button on your rear derailleur.
6. Reinstall the battery in your rear derailleur.
7. Release the AXS button on your rear derailleur.
8. This should cause the LED to flash yellow/light green. While it is flashing, click the magnifying glass in the AXS app and search for your derailleur.
9. The app should say that your derailleur needs an update; begin the update procedure.
Cheers but ive tried that and it makes no difference, as soon as you open the AXS app after doing that proceedure it comes up saying it needs a firmware update (to the same firmware already installed)
Ensure the device is running the latest update of the SRAM AXS app (2.27.0).
Latest version is 2.31.0

Yeah those instructions were sent to me a few months ago. And if you do the update again to the same firmware it still doesn’t work?Â
I had the firmware loop irritation a while ago. But it turned out that the battery itself was faulty. Got a free warranty replacement.
So last night i removed the two AXS batteries from the two mechs, put them on charge (they were almost fully charged but thought id top them up) i then purposely didnt refit them overnight to see if that would make a difference
Fitted them to all three rear mechs this morning and everything is back to normal! no more being stuck in a firmware update loop, each component is showing correctly in each bike's profile in the AXS app garage and they all connect to the app in around 5 secondsÂ
