The SRAM AXS app is advising there's new firmware to be loaded for my XX1 AXS rear mech but when I go through the download it gives the message 'firmware service unavailable' - I have tried:
- updating the app version
- deleting/reloading
- deleting the bike profile+recreating+re-adding
- connectivity is fine in terms of signal
Any one else faced this and know a fix?
Noticed that myself. Did the same thing. I have 2 XX1 mechs and 1 Red. The Red worked successfully. Neither of the XX1 mechs did. Haven't noticed any difference with the Red one, and SRAM don't disclose what the update is meant to have fixed like Apple do, so hard to know what we're missing out on.
Update: I tried again and then found despite the message 'firmware service unavailable' was still displaying, you can swipe right to a new screen and then perform the firmware update.
Yeah, did my mech last night...tried the post but no update available for that yet.
I've also emailed Garmin to ask if they can make the Dropper post ANT+ sensor available on their Forerunner and Edge devices...according to thisisant, there is now a dropper ANT+ setting but nothing works with it yet.
Using the AXS app, I'm finding it strangely anoraky to know how much time I spent in each gear, would be good to see how much messing around with the dropper I do as well!
I didn't know that feature was available - how do you access (hah!) it?
You activate your system (rear mech only for now), then you move your computer (Garmin device) close to it and scan for sensors on the Garmin.
It should pick up a Shifting device and connect to your rear mech. Whenever you then ride and start tracking on your Garmin, the Shifter connects to your device and it tracks the amount of shifts, which gear you are in and for how long, via the SRAM AXS app/website (which shows your ride details but only you can see it, it isn't a social system like Strava, etc.).
The Dropper one should do similar but tell you how often you move your post (unsure if it will tell you how far it has been dropped or anything through).

ah must get a Garmin then!
I suspect it will work with other devices, probably in a similar way...the sensor is ANT+ so isn't Garmin specific...however, the device manufacturer will need to include the sensor settings in a build so the device knows it is connected to something (and what that something is).

I works with Wahoo Elemnt Bolt and its associated app aswell - I've got the Red AXS setup on mine. You view the number of shifts and gear ratios through the Wahoo app.
Very interesting stuff.
Forgot to add that I had the ‘firmware service unavailable’ on Friday but have today updated so seems to be working my end.
