SRAM AXS battery longevity ?

I have AXS on a couple of bikes, so 3 batteries on the bikes and a couple of spares. I have noticed one, which is a couple of yrs old and in a rear mech, seems to be going to flashing red after 3-4 hours or so of use.

I take it out when transporting the bike in car or on rack, and I’m pretty sure it’s not left trying to shift when stored. I’m also fairly sure it’s the original SRAM battery, though it could have been mixed with an Amazon spare, though I am pretty careful not to mix them.

any ideas ?

I have ordered a new SRAM one and will likely consign the offending one to the spares box..

I've a couple that are about 5 years old (or almost 5 years old) and they still seem very good. I haven't noticed any reduced usage time, but I'm recharging every 4-6 weeks depending on volume of riding and that seems to be the same since new.

Sorry, that clearly isn't any help to you.

Thanks, maybe it’s just a dodgy battery cell, will keep an eye on it.

I had one which went duff within a year. Mondraker replaced it under warranty. The others seem thankfully to be ok.

I think there was a dodgy batch a while ago - I had one that started to die after 3 hrs then stopped charging. It was replaced by SRAM.

I've got 4 batteries I total (2 for road bike, 1 for MTB plus a spare and all last weeks now but I tend to keep them off the bikes and charged.

I’d be more worried about how long it takes for the pogo pins to wear out which then requires a fiddly repair or binning of an expensive derailleur

On my first ever electronic mech (SRAM GX Transmission), I was wondering whether it was better to remove the battery when not in use v potential to wear pogo pins. So far I'm just leaving battery in until it needs charging..
