SRAM apex HRD lever play

Good morning. I have an issue with the above. I have lots of free play before the lever feels it's contacting the pads. I followed the SRAM video on cleaning the piston etc but the apex is different than rival etc and the video wasn't of any use. When the lever is pressed it also won't pull all the way back, it feels like it's sticking on something. Could this be the pistons that are sticking and not a lever problem?

Thanks

Sounds just like a sticking master cylinder though. My Rival did just that although there was a youtube video. Not SRAM though, some American chap. Equally I had a set of calipers that eventually created the same thing.

Same for me as @mattsccm, sticky Rival master cylinder was giving these symptoms. I managed to follow the youtube video but didn't fully remove the master cylinder piston so didn't lose any fluid or let any air into the system, just released it enough to add some brake cylinder lube to the outer seal and that fixed the problem for me. Frustratingly this was on a new bike!

Cheers. Yes I've followed the video. Got as far as stripping it all down but can't seem to get the master cylinder out  (even trying to push fluid through to push it out!).  I'm stuck!
