You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
OK - I'm completely foxed by this one.... fitting a new X0 front mech, about to plug the cable and start adjustment, unscrew the the cable retaining crew and it comes out into my hand - trying to screw it back in and it's not sitting properly on entry. I take the screw back out and it looks as though there's some sort of spring or something around the screw......
I can take this "spring like thing off" and then when I try to insert the screw again it's way to big for the hole....!?!?!. Any ideas?
Pretty sure I haven't cross threaded and ripped the thread out - I seriously put zero effort into the allen key action...
Completely foxed!
Sounds Luke you removed a thread insert.
BAD DOG! In your bed!
You'll need to take it back or get a new helicoil kit and fit a new insert.
Sounds like a helicoil or a ripped thread. Back to the shop you got it from. Would a new one really have a helicoil fitted as standard?
Bad dog indeed..... OK, sounds reasonable. To be honest though, there was no force applied to the screw - I must be way more awesome than I gave myself credit for if that's the case. Have attached a couple of pic's for more info....
Cheers!!
