Will it work ?

My (potential) new wheels are XD only so can I just fit a 11-speed SRAM cassette like the one below and expect the rest of the XT M8000 11-speed tranny to play nicely with it ?

It works the other way (I have sram gx groupset) and use XT cassette on one pair of wheels so it should do.

OK thanks - is it therefore OK to run boost front (Yari) and non-boost rear ?

Tyres will be 2.35 either ends on 24mm internal

2.35 on a yari? Why?

Don't know. Is that too big ?

I would like the Yari for the 35mm stanchion vs my current 32mm Revs.

Boost is only because it's cheaper than non-boost.

What tyre size would be optimum for a Yari then ?

Yes it's fine to run boost and non boost.

2.35 is fine.

It will all be fine.

I think mike is saying the kind of bike a yari is on warrants a proper tyre. I'd tend to agree.. whack a 2.5 minion on and crack on! My xc bike now has a pike, 27mm internal rims and 2.4 tyres.... 😳

You'll be fine with your options though.

Go boost purely because non boost options are pretty much dead by the looks of it.

Cheers Nick. It's my only bike (Meta AM HT) so it is my XC bike too. 1.24mm difference between a 2.35 and a 2.4.
