I'm on my third and it broke for the second time last night. The others broke at least twice each. I'm neither super heavy nor super powerful, it's just hilly XC and ST riding.

Is it just me?

What to use instead?

I love my 10 speed but this is getting past the point of tolerance!

Ta - should pretty much any Shimano 10 speed work or are some specific to their cassettes etc? I'm on X0 shifters/mech with a SRAM cassette, Truvativ crankset.

a friend of mine has just mashed his third 10spd chain in 9 months. Not sure what brand they are but I'd guess SRAM as the chain set is. I assumed it was because he was a bit ham-fisted with the gears?

Mine's been perfect so far.

You suposedly have to match the chain and cassette, but the mechs and shifters can be from the other brand.

Hard to say - but I ran SRAM 9 speed chains on Shimano for years with the very occasional breakage, about the same rate as anyone else.

Since I went to 10 speed it's got stupid though.

That apart my 2x10 with SRAM shifters is a great set up, I don't want to revert.

My Sram X9 chain has been spot on since I fitted it last year. Loads of riding on a 1x10. Of course, it will no doubt snap on my next ride now I've written this.
