Bought a Jetblack Volt direct drive trainer last year. I've used it for maybe 20 hours total and it's started making loud squeaking noises after about 30 minutes of use - much louder than normal use. Coming from the flywheel I think and not the hub. Should I just return it?

Does it need any regular servicing? Or does the flywheel sit in fluid and it needs topped up?

It doesn't seem to be user serviceable at all. All the manufacturer mentions is greasing the cassette body.

Might be worth checking to see if there are any Facebook groups etc dedicated to the trainer- I have a TACX Neo and the FB group dedicated to it is really quite helpful- there's loads of advice on servicing and common creak fixes etc. If nothing else you might be able to see if it is common fault or not.

Ah crap, not the thread I was expecting. If anyone happens to have some advice on a squeaky running trainers then all ears for that too. It’s a pair of Scott’s and last few weeks the left one seems to chirp on ground contact.

Also a Volt owner from last year and haven't had this yet (it's being getting used about 3+ times a week). Please update with any findings if you do get it resolved or whether you went down warranty route (Evans?)

Dealt with eventually.

Evans customer service just said take it to my nearest store, which isn't very near. Store was helpful and wanted to inspect it before sending it back to the supplier for repair under warranty, which took a couple of weeks.

No cost to me and no details of what the issue was.

tangential, maybe:

I've an oldish Elite Drivo and that makes bloody weird noises when the belt/spline interface "dries out" - they suggested Vaseline and that does work for several months/years
