Hey,
So my Kona Dew turned up from Merlin yesterday as shipped to them as boxed and I assembled the various parts last night.
I noticed when setting the stem height that when locking the brakes and standing on the peddles the crank still rotated rotated slowly under load.
Is this likely to be the bottom bracket slightly loose or the square tapered cranks?
Thanks
Probably movement between the brake pads and the caliper
the crank still rotated rotated slowly under load.
it moved slightly or started moving and carried on?
slight movement (if you can't feel anythign tryign to rock the crank by hand) could just be flex int he frame/crank/bb spindle.
continuous movement (if you keep your weight on the crank it'll eventaully reach the bottom of the stroke) sounds like the the crank is completely rounded internally and the freewheel is knackered as welll...
Was the chain on at the time?
I was taking
"the crank still rotated rotated slowly under load."
to mean
"the crank still rotated rotated slightly under load."
what clubber said about the brakes slipping might be true too - put the front wheel against a wall and try again.
Hey,
Not the brakes, and it's a brand new bike so I would be surprised if the the crank and freewheel are both broken.
Thanks Thanks 🙂
