I've got through two bottom brackets within the space of a year thought with the second one I'd be able to just replace the bearings but they are 6002RS-16 type and I can't find these online.

Does anyone know what ISO square taper bottom brackets exist with sealed bearings that are widely available?

These SKF Bottom Brackets look fairly robust but I'd still want to know if I can replace the bearings when they get knackered. Also a bit spendy for what is essentially a hack bike.

RJ Chicken used to import a TA Axix bottom bracket that takes ordinary cartridge bottom bracket. They only appear to have the Ti axled version for £154 now. Dunno if you could trace one of those (I've got the bog standard one in my hack bike)

Have you considered using a Shimano JIS BB (the good ones last forever).

Read this to allay any concerns you might have:

Tucker, I've got a Campag crank set so must be Italian and I'm still concerned about the tapers.

I was looking at those TA bottom brackets but the bearings look really exposed from water that will find it's way into the steel frame. What bearings do they use?

I don't know what the 16 designation is, but 6002 is the size and RS means it has one rubber shield. Any 6002 bearing should fit size wise.

Nothing fancy, last set were 619032RSR for about £10 each. Got ~4 years out of them in a winter bike.
Currently running some Kaesae specials in there.

tthew I think the 16 is the inner diameter so 1mm could make quite a big difference, the 15mm bearings are easy to get.

Great, 619032RSR bearings seem pretty common. I'll get the TA bottom bracket then. Thanks for your help.

I hate throw away components.

Unfortunately, it isn't always possible to go by numbers on the bearing seals, I aquired a cartridge type BB with worn 6002 bearings, but they were a different size to off the shelf 6002 models. In a similar manner, DT Onyx(I think) freehub bodies have a bearing marked 6001, but it's actually a 16100, and has a much deeper inner race, i'm guessing they use the same seals because it's cheaper that way.

If you can get a bottom bracket wits a grease nipple that's what I'd get.

I'd also pre fill bearings if possible.
