Spotted an obviously stolen Lapierre Zesty, think it was a 714 with a carbon back end, being accompanied by two guys in tracksuits (the other was riding an Apollo) hanging round outside a pawn shop doing the "should we go in or not" pre amble. Anyway, they really didn't like me looking at the bike as I walked past, gave me a death stare as I walked off. When I'd gone 100 yards past, they got on the bikes and rode off.

A few minutes later I popped into the pawn shop to question about their practises when it comes to buying 2nd hand bikes etc, it seems the 2 old guys in there are pretty well up on modern bikes, and also for calling the police for stolen bikes. The pawn shop is in St. Johns, just by the co-op on the main road... So if anyone has lost their Zesty, suggest you go hang around there for a but as they're likely to come back I'm sure...

Lapierre Mountain Bikes Stolen from Roof Rack in Gloucester Supermarket Car Park

January 9 2012

Two Lapierre mountain bikes with a combined value of over £5000 were stolen from a roof rack in a supermarket car park in Gloucester over the weekend.

The incident happened outside Sainsbury’s in Barnett Way in Barnwood at about 4.30pm on Saturday (January 7).

Unknown offenders broke the rack and stole the bikes off a dark blue Vauxhall Astra.

The first bike is described as a white and black 30-speed Lapierre Zest 514, with a tear in the right side of the saddle.

The second bike is described as a red and black 30-speed Lapierre Zest 714.

Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the car park, has any information about the case or has been offered these bikes is asked to call police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, quoting incident 307 of January 7.

Who'd leave 5k of bikes on a roofrack in a supermarket carpark. I feel nervous leaving mine INSIDE the car parked outside the front door of the supermarket on a bright summer during peak times.

Who'd leave anything, even if nailed to the floor, on display in Barnwood.

FTFY 😉
