I have been looking at the Ribble Sportive 7046 and the Gran Fondo but cannot decide between the two. There is a considerable difference in the price and i know this is due to the fact that one is alloy and one is carbon, but from what i can gather there isn't much difference in weight. So what is the better option ?

Sorry, I can't be much help as I've never ridden the sportive but I've recently gone from an aluminium Cannondale CAAD 8 to a Gran Fondo mainly because the 'dale started to feel a bit harsh and therefore quite tiring on anything over 50 miles. I've only had the Gran Fondo about 5 weeks but so far I've found it very comfortable but not necessarily any quicker (nothing in it weight wise as far as I can tell). I definitely feel fresher at the end of the ride though.
