Karimoor Reflective Running Jacket: £6 from sports direct.

Looks like a Altura Night Vision, costs about 1/15th of the price.

Seemed waterproof enough in the spray last night

Seemed brethable to an extent, not brilliant, but with the zip opened up to about sternum level I only drank a litre of water in 3 hours last night despite being over dressed for the conditions (I could have gotten away with just the thick LS jersy, without the base layer and waterproof top.

OK so the cuffs are elastic not velcro, it doesn't have pit zips, there isn't quite as much reflective stuff, is probably shower proof rather than waterproof, and breathability is adequate rather than spectacular. Quality of construction seems good with no obvious faults.

Would I buy it again? Yes, and a spare!

Magicshine MJ-808 (the Mk 1.5 version with new battery and old lamp)

3 hour night ride flicking between low and high, barely dented the battery capacity, bargain!Beam pattern was fine, nice spot for helmet lamp work, with a big flood arround it that obviously aids visibility to cars and just baout iluminates to about a foot or two in front of your wheel when lookinf straight ahead). If it was my design it would be 4 modes, high, med, low, flash with a toggle/slide switch to make life easier, but cant complain when its 1/8th of the price of some competitors!

£4 ebay 270lumen torch/bike light (the red/purple one), didn't work, but I think that was a battery fault as it worked fine with a different set. Kicks out enough light to use on its own. Battery life isnt spectacular, just used it for the road ride home and suspect it was dimming after about an hour.

Would I buy again, maybe, its brighter thn the tesco torch and DX Q5 torches, but 3xAA is not as much runtime as 2xAA. It's main selling point to me is the bar mount which is a really good solid one, a million times better than the twofish lock block style clamps.

These and things much like them. Cheap bright good battery life. No snob value but in back to back tests brighter than a 200 pound UK equivalent. Pretty narrow beam but 2 on the bars and a magicshine on the head and you're lit up like good un for 80 quid.
