Hi all
I snapped a couple of spokes on my EA70 XCT 29 mrear wheel and ordered some new ones.
The ones I ordered are a wider gauge than the originals.
Couple of Qs:
1) Will having 4 spokes of a wider gauge be a bad thing. (I guess so cos I keep snapping other ones now)
2) Can I just order a load more wider gauge spokes and replace them all to make a sturdier wheel?
Thanks a mill

Possibly - I've survived when having to replace on or two while touring but always replaced as soon as possible with like for like1) Will having 4 spokes of a wider gauge be a bad thing. (I guess so cos I keep snapping other ones now)
Yep, this would be what I would do if you're breaking spokes - although check where you're breaking them, I've only seen one or two fail in the center, with most failing at the ends where the thickness would be the same whether it's lightweight or not2) Can I just order a load more wider gauge spokes and replace them all to make a sturdier wheel?

1. No, I've replaced all sorts with all sorts in this situation and no problem.
2. Yes. My rule of thumb is that if 3+spokes break then more are likely. You can do them one by one or as a rebuild, up to you.
