My e-Bike has died due to a small crash which has basically broken the frame and battery. The motor is a recent replacement so still has most of a 2 year warranty and the drive train, forks, brakes etc are all reasonable.

How would you lot recommend trying to sell it?

Take photos of it complete, split to parts and take photos etc?

What about the motor? Try to sell it with just paper work and a promise that it works?

Not done this stuff before so genuinely don't know what the approved approach is.

Cheers

I'd split it and sell all the parts individually. I'd remove the motor and sell as a stand alone part, explaining what happened and that it's nearly new. If the warranty is transferable it should be easy to sell.

Only problem with splitting is that you end up with loads of chains, stems, bars etc. in the spares box as they tend to be worth less than the hassle of selling!

I'd split it and sell the parts, you're going to inevitably end up with some stuff left over, however if they are low value items and you really want shot theres loads of bike charities who make up bikes for under privileged kids who are always keen to take parts that others wouldnt want.

Other option is to stick it up for a few weeks on marketplace/here and see what interest you get for the entire thing as is, no interest or it doesnt sell quickly split down and sell parts.

I had a chat with someone yesterday who was riding an ebike they’d built up themselves with a frame from http://m.dengfubikes.com they had paid less for their frame, motor and battery than I did for the frame I was riding. It seemed… good I think? He was happy anyway.

If you can stand the hassle maybe you buy a frame and sell it as a complete bike? Or just replace your frame cheaply and keep riding?

Edit: this was the specific frame, it looked good in the flesh too! http://m.dengfubikes.com/index.php?s=/230.html

Buying a replacement frame and replacemen t battery was my original idea but it is a Bosch motor so the Bangfang don't look like they will fit as they are for either Bangfang or Shimano.

Quite surprised a small accident would break the frame and battery, what brand of bike is it? some manufactuer's offer a crash replacement scheme (Specailized for example)

What about keeping it all and scouring ebay for bare frames that can accept a bosch motor etc? Could be a chance to rebuild a bike for yourself or worst case at least have a full bike to sell?

It is a seven year old Scott E-Genius and I have already had 1 replacement frame, two computers and a rear support on warranty but that has now expired.

The crash has bent the pivot slightly so the rear suspension no longer lines up with the pivot bearings without a hefty push. This leads to uneven wear and as I don't want to pour more money at it with a new battery at about £400.

I have been looking for a replacement frame that will take a Bosch motor but there seems to be none around. I want the space back in the garage so may well just break down to components, photograph for the classifieds and store in a box out of the way until I can get something.

Buy a bosch eeeb with a broken motor...

bend it back and light duties...?

The batteries are all based around 18650 lithium ion cells.

Lots of places will refurb your pack with new cells (sometimes its just 1 or 2 cells gone bad).

If you want rid ebay it complete or for a few more quid sell by parts, someone will buy the frame and bend it back.

If you can't be bothered to strip and sell, list it accurately on ebay, loads of photos, spares or repair and 99p start and offer to post it for more potential bidders. Ebike will be about £50 ish.

Hold your nerve 🤣

I dont know what the differences are but theres bound to be mounting dependencies between fitting a modern motor and one 7 years old. So you might not ever find a replacement frame.
But frames there are these days and just a 2 sec google brings up this
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203605050633?hash=item2f67ce8509:g:6MQAAOSwJfBhQJ84

Does it look like your motor would fit this frame ?

I bought a broken Kalkhoff ebike for £150 on ebay during the summer. I've stripped it this week, the wheels with dynohub and 7 speed Nexus are going on my town bike (debating the Magura HS11s too) and I'm about to put the rest back on ebay. The seller said that between me hitting BuyItNow and collecting, she had three offers of over double what I paid so there is a good market, even for a step-through shopper. I'll be surprised if I don't break even.
