Anyone use stand alone spine protectors, what do you use, how do you find them?
I've still got my full Dainese suit from my DH days but its a bit much for AM riding although I want the spine protection. So before I part with my hard earned cash give me your reviews and avoids. Quite like the look of the POC gear at the moment, any thoughts?

Have you looked at the Evoc range of back packs? They're great, useful, well built and brilliant looking packs but also come with a built in CE rated spine protector.

A lot of the gravity enduro riders are using them these days to kill two birds with one stone.

I wasn't aware of the Evoc but having a look now, might be the ticket.

I've got this:
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mobile/MobileModels.aspx?ModelID=65668 - got it for the back protection with a bit of rib armour too after a big rib snapping incident

But you could have this for back protector only:

Back protector seems to be pretty high quality - similar to decent back protectors from my motorbike days.
Have worn it for fairly lengthly rides including some serious climbing in temps up to about 18deg, any hotter and you'll melt - though cools quickly as soon as you start to head down
