Thinking about a set up for wet nights to connect to something like zwift. What’s the advantages/disadvantages of a dedicated spinning bike as opposed to the normal bike hooked up to a turbo trainer??
I have a Wattbike. It’s absolutely faff free. Zero faffage in the slightest. It connects to zwift (big screen tv with Apple air).
I know my saddle setting as does the wife, takes seconds to get it to the right position if one of us has been on it.
Rock solid for sprinting, never felt it was close to tipping.
This is worth a look....

I have a smart wheel off Turbo with a road bike on it. I'd say the advantages of either are
Spin Bike
Easier for multiple users
Zero faff (as mentioned above)
No drive train
Turbo Trainer
Significantly cheaper: £700 will get you a great unit such as Wahoo Kickr core, A "proper" smart spin bike that connects to Zwift etc, such as an Atom Wattbike will be in the £2k region.
Use your own bike (I prefer this idea) so you can take it outdoors when wanted.
Packs away when not in use (if space is an issue)
Close to Zero faff if you have a wheel off trainer and a permanent space to put it and aren't switching the bike on\off it for every session.
Probably other advantages of each but they're the main ones I can think of.
Spin bike gearing is too low for zwift and resistance won't be measured. Will work fine with power pedals (not cranks because of BB) but power pedals are even more expensive than a turbo.
Buy my Taxc rollers that are on Ebay... try them once, crash badly, then spend the rest of lockdown v2 sat in front of the sofa eating crips while your bones heal... simples
