Tried a turbo for a few weeks but really couldn't get on with it. After recently joining a gym I've found I get on a bit better with spin bikes.

Not really sure what I need/don't need extras wise but one similar to the ones in the gym would be nice (electronic resistance/timer etc).

Just looking round and this seems reasonable.

Don't really have a budget but would prefer not to spend it if I don't have to!

That's an exercise bike, not a spin bike. Which do you want? I can't see why someone may want a spin bike, but can't comprehend anyone who rides a real bike wanting an exercise bike.

Helpful.

Spin bikes use big heavy flywheels to replicate the effort of riding. I got an old ex-gym spin bike off ebay last year and it's been great for training. Never got on with rollers or turbos but a spin bike with a chunky 40kg (I think) flywheel was just the thing. It does take up a lot of space and is a bugger to move about. I would say £200 would get you a stonking used spin bike. It'll be rusty here or there and might need a new brake cable like mine but will no doubt have years of life left in it.

I want something that's not a bike on a turbo, but like the spinny thing in the gym if that's a better description?

Will be used when the kids are in bed/wife out otherwise I'd be out getting muddy. Size/weight/noise not really an issue as it will be in the garage. Quiet would be nice though!

Like this? These are on the bay with 12 hours to go and current bid of £80. Like most of them for sale 2nd hand, you need to collect them but keep looking and one will turn up close enough to you.

Spin bikes fit a lot better than exercise bikes in my experiences. Also often spd pedals which are great

Aye, that's a spin bike then, you're looking for sommat with a big ol' flywheel - like in the pics above, rather than an exercise bike, on which you can stop pedalling, but they feel horrible.

I've got a spin bike. I prefer it to using our turbo trainer.
Of course I'd 100 times prefer to be outdoors on my MTB, and although we usually ride through the winter including in bad weather, it's useful for those nights when the weather really is truly dreadful.
It's getting pretty much daily use at the moment as I had an op on my spine last month, and will be off my MTB for 6 months.

The Lord works in mysterious ways 😯

Mother in law was home with the wife when I popped home for dinner and mentioned her brother was getting rid of an exercise bike as he is expecting a delivery of a treadmill and would I be interested? Hardly used and free.

Errr, yes please.

Due to be dropped off tomorrow, can't say fairer than that!

That's a spin bike. Not an exercise bike. Which is good for you. They aren't the same thing.

Although I mentioned exercise bike, I'm aware it's a spin bike thanks. It was the m-i-l that called it an exercise bike.
