we told him to drop into the banking, he dropped to flat and his bike snapped. we have a friend who has recently started riding and felt the need to prove himself. now his chain stay has snapped after a 6foot drop to flat. will have pics later hopefully
warranty, jra 😉
"chain stay has snapped after a 6foot drop to flat"
which model year? either way I don't think any of them were designed/marketted/sold as huck bikes were they?
I honestly thought a 6 foot drop to flat was nowhere near a huck, very surprised that this happened. 😐
its a 2005. he bought the frame second hand but there has apprently been a recall on this year because of the chainstay. he is going to give speh a ring. dont know exactly what he expectas from a 7 year old frame.
After he landed i asked him how it felt. his reply was.
"even though my frame snapped it still felt smooth"
this comment made me cry
"even though my frame snapped it still felt smooth"
Brilliant.
had my frame go here on a 2006 model, was a common issue with the frame and spesh hold matt black spares so sourcing one shouldn't be an issue
A common failure, but there was no recall.
If you're the original owner, specialized will probably replace it at no cost (they did for mine anyway), the new chainstay is beefed up a bit in this area, but people still snap them.
