Hey all , just after abit if advice with my maverick speedball post . I love this but I was trying to do a quick service on it and the 10mm nut at the bottom of the post turns but does not come off .
Has anyone else experienced this?
Is there anywhere left that can service this post in the uk?
Is it worth trying to salvage or just go for a more modern alternative ?
Thanks in advance
Chris

Try using some long needle nosed pliers and a screwdriver in the slot in the bolt - worked with my old Crank Bros; I think the design is the same.

Speedball is same as joplin. LOADS of service guides on web, I crossposted a step by step guide from mtbr in a thread here a while ago if you use advanced search (or google the original).

edit: found it now I'm on laptop not tiny phone for surfing

thanks for the info.
i think the slot your referring to is the cap over the valve - that went a long time ago...
the issue i have is the nut turns - but does not undo.
I think this is a job for BIN and credit card... which means no adjustable post this year 🙁

Ah, another speedball user 🙂 I thought I was the only one left!

Here's a link to a thread on mtbr, post no 32 has the same issue as you have, the solution suggested is to push down on the post to create some friction whilst screwing the nut. might be of some use to you.....

If you do decide to bin yours let me know, I could do with some spares especially the seat clamp 😉
