Bought a new carbon road frame and after first ride the upper crown/leg has a spiral fracture. No doubt it has failed. Bit miffed as you would expect but a question follows:

Who should I contact but who is best to contact 😉

Do I contact Spesh direct?
Do I contact the Original Bike shop (this in my view always adds weeks to the issue)

At least its only the fork and so easy to remove and post - maybe after sending spesh the photos they might just post out a new fork?

Your warranty is with the retailer so they should be your first port of call.

I had what i thought was a thumbnail sized piece of paint flaking off near the bb on my epic expert. I took it to Spesh in Chessington as i work near there and they replaced the frame in a flash. one of the best warranty experiences of my life.

Go back to where you bought it.

I bought it online so I'll have to post it back after taking to them - I'll give them a ring on Monday.

You probably could do it through any spesh dealer, I.e the one local to you. But, why do you think they should help you when you chose not to buy it from them?

As you bought on-line you could phone or e-mail Spesh warranty and get them to advise you as to where to send it.
I used to work in the trade and as mentioned before Specialized warranty is 2nd to none for speed and efficency.

Jeeez - I use them quite a lot actually (for spesh items) but I just happened not to buy this 09' frame from them - They are very good to chat to and talk about Merlin bargins etc - even they buy stuff from Merlin personally. Oh and if they had this frame at that price I would have bought it from them!!! 🙄

Alright, alright don't get your knickers in a twist.
It was a genuine question - a lot of people buy online to save money but still expect the LBS that that they chose not to use to resolve any issues that arise, in my mind, that takes the piss, I was wondering if you had that attitude.
Rather than get all over active with the exclamation marks you could have just said that you know them well and normally buy everything from them.

Alright, alright don't get your knickers in a twist.

Perhaps you should phase your questions a little better in the future instead of making assumptions about people 🙄

Something like "Do you use your LBS enough to feel you can approach them with a warranty claim" ? Fed up with keyboard warriors like you - oh and then following it up with - keep your knickers on type irritating put downs!

Spesh wouldn't deal direct with me and told me to take it back to the place I bought it from!

Ha ha- I ask a perfectly logical and polite question that you reply to in an aggressive manner and yet I'm the keyboard warrior.
I don't think my questions need to be phrased any differently, what I asked was why you feel a product you bought elsewhere should be dealt with by your LBS.
If you mis-understood that I'm very sorry but in the context of the thread that you started I thought it was pretty clear.

I have made my point so back to my original topic.

Spesh wouldn't deal direct with me and told me to take it back to the place I bought it from!

Thanks - I think that is the most likely result 🙂
