for rocky lakesy stuff?
Just been given a purgatory for my birthday by my gf to replace my very bald rear vertical. (her brother works in bike shop and he said they were good)
anyway just wondering whts best to do...
is this a better tyre front or rear? other tyre is a not too worn vertical, so i can leave this on the front (but it always feels a bit squirmy in the wet) or swap this to the rear and put my new one on the front...
Or bin the vertical and get another cheap specialized tyre to go with my shiny new knobbly one! Would have to be a spec though as i can get it cheap through gf's brother 🙂 Which one though... another purgatory or do they go better with something else?!
never paid much attention to tyres before really as you can probably tell!
i like the captains, they are pretty good in all conditions.
fast tracks for the summer or rear all the time.
We all run Enduro Pro 2.3s in England with no problems

I got Eskar control 2.3s with my Pitch - hated them at first but tried them again recently and they seem pretty decent.
I'd stick it up front. It might 'only' be 60a/70a (dual compound, harder 70a in the middle to roll, softer 60a for cornering grip on the edges), but It should be a lot softer/grippier than a continental. The chunkyness will help too
I'd stick it up front with a vertical out back (definetly not the other way around). I assume the vertical is a 2.3" (by continentals measurement) and the spesh a 2.2" (by spesh's measurement) so you'll have the bigger spesh up front
The thing is I think you may realise how much grippier the spesh is and want to 'upgrade' the continental as a result?
cheers everyone, some tyres to go look at there thanks.
James - yeah, i was thinking when i saw the spesh that it looks loads grippier so cant wait to ride it, but i guess i'm already wanting to upgrade from the vertical because it just looks feeble in comparison!
I'll try it spesh on the front and vert on the rear this weekend and then decide about the upgrade!
