Looking to purchase my first full suss bike and have about £2G to part with. Ride quality & efficiency of the Spec looks good - I'm a hefty 6 footer - but the spec on the Cube is amazing for the price. I don't really live close to anywhere that is trialing them so any help/advice from owners or people that have tried them would be greatly appreciated.
My main riding is XC but we have trail centre days out for full on mad days. Main Qu is - Is the ride quality that much better on the Spec than the cube to superceed the likes of the Pike and Reverb on it?

Cheers for any advice

MBR tested both recently and preferred the stumpy ride wise, but admitted the cube is much better kitted out. I've a stumpjumper evo and it's great, can't comment on the cube though. The camber evo looks a great bike too and is a bit cheaper

I have owned both first the Cube. That was good but I found the top tube too short for my liking so brought a Evo 29 frame and swapped over the parts..

Like Moda says Cube and Specialized geometry are quite different to each other, with the Cube cockpit being short and tall compared to the Stumpy's low and long.

Definitely check out the Camber Evo too.

Have a look at the hammerhead thumper.

You could build a lovely one with a pike and decent wheels for your budget.

Really good bike, though I've only ridden e with a -1deg angleset and 150mm fork.

Cheers for the replies folks. Going to head into Glasgow to Dales Cycles and have a sit on the Specialized to see how it feels. For some reason I think I'd prefer the longer geometry with my height. I think the more I look the more I get hung up on spec forgetting that I'm not that good technically and probably wouldn't appreciate the subtle differences between the two spec wise. Just want something that's bags of fun and easier to ride so I can make it up the hills quicker and don't fall on my a@#e to much on the descents!
