Does anyone know when it will be released?
I can find no detail on the Specialized site.
Wasn't it released in July?
Wasn’t it released in July?
Yes and No. One of the weirest launches i've seen. Think it was briefly on the site, it's not there now, and never launched in the USA at all (or even officially launched in the UK). All very odd....... still want one though
Not sure about a launch, but I bought one in August.
I don't think you can buy them on-line.
I am actually looking at buying some for hire in Austria but cannot find any official information whatsoever.
How are you finding it @hairyscary?
Yeah they've been in shops since the Summer

The launch seems to be entirely social media based, they shipped bikes to a few pro BMX'ers like Chase Hawk and Corey Martinez who put up some clips and used the StatusMTB hashtag, almost an embargo on shops actually advertising them though.
There's a magazine seems to like them...
Can someone provide a link for one that´s currently for sale in a shop? I have seen nothing here in Austria.
My LBS has sold a couple and he was building one up for a customer when I was in a few weeks ago.
I really like the look of them but I've never seen one in the flesh. You can only see them in a real shop and I can't remember when I was last in one of those.
They look cool but I'm not committed enough to seek one out. I'd like to replace my girlfriends Stumpjumper with one but she won't be riding for a while.

What's it like for pedalling around on? I know it's built for blowing up berms on Instagram but you have to actually travel to the trails from where I live.
I'm 5'9" and riding the S3 size. (fits me well). I do most of my riding around Aberdeenshire at places like Banchory, Aboyne and Ballater. Most of the riding is steep up and steep down. I have done big days in the hills (2000m of ascent) with no issues.
I definitely would not want to ride it on flatter trails, I have an XC bike for that stuff.
It is really fun to ride. I particularly like the way that the rear end slides really easily.
I run it in the high setting as I think it sits too low in the low setting.
So far I've changed:
The tyres for a set of Michelin Wild Enduros as everyone says the ones fitted are crap.
The NX cassette as it is a boat anchor.
The NX derailleur as the 'clutch' did nothing.
Tweaked the rear shock by reducing the spacer size. I really could not get the shock to use more than 80% of its stroke without running over 33% sag.
Edit.
Ok, that was meant to be a picture uploaded from my mobile 🙄
I'll pop up a picture when I get back from work.
Interested in one for "cycling to work" (ahem). Like above, could only find one place advertising them online and that's now got a "404" when you follow the link!
Reviews (and the geo chart) suggested the rear was a bit too short for enduro riding. Probably perfect for roosting corners for the 'Gram though.
Why haven't they done an aluminium Enduro yet instead? Pull yer finger out Spesh.
i heard that only certain shops would be stocking them (that could be total bull tho). I know MB cyclery in Liphook stocks them.
Odd that they don't appear on the specialized concept store website.
Looks like it could be a solid choice for bike park and general messing about on.

iirc if that the same reviews were written a couple of years ago the rear end would've been just fine for enduro
Here’s the picture of mine that I tried to post earlier.

Nice. You ever take it off any sweet jumps?
Goggles doing the old photo handle-dangle? Course he has!
When it points down it is quicker than my previous bikes (Radon Swoop 170 10 27.5” and a Vitus Sommet 27.5”). I can’t compare against a 29”er as I’ve only had an afternoon on one.
The Status is really hard work on steep and techy climbs. There are are couple of local climbs that I can just about clean on my old bikes that I’m not close to on the Status.

Yep, and maybe it'd still be OK if it had small wheels front and rear.
It's good that reviewers are getting more clued-up though, IMO.
I've just managed to order one of these, the lack of information (bar reviews) is ridiculous. If anyones looking Brink have an S2 and 3 in charcoal and pedalpower have an S2 and S5 in Maroon. Edinburgh bicycle have some as well but thats as far as my ninja google skills got
They only exist on Instagram. #statusmtb innit.
Still isn't on the actual Pearce Cycles website though.
I want one. Anyone bought one recently? I can't be bothered with the whole non marketing and specialized not advertising or admitting to making the damn thing.
Brink have them in my size surprisingly and are not too far away for £2600. This the normal price now from the (non)launch price or do I need to ring a load of shops?
Funny how this thread popped up when I'd just started looking for fresh information on them.
There's a 140mm and 160mm version now in a couple of fresh colours.
There's a website now. If you can call it that by 2021 standards... https://statusmtb.bike
There's a few new YouTube videos from amateur reviewers but nothing worth watching.
I still think they look like a blast and I could get one from my LBS on cycle scheme but it would be yet another bike that's better suited to the kind of riding I wish I had access to rather than the soul crushing, bridleway, purgatory that I'm actually surrounded by.
I think I'd be better off with a Stumpy Evo.
They appear to tick all my main boxes. Alloy, screw bottom bracket, mullet , modern geo.
I only really want one for the local pushup spots, or to uplift occasionally if my kenevo is broken or for a change. Plus flights abroad as I can't take the eeb. Pedalling performance isnt high up the list.
Seems 2600 is the price now, a few shops have responded. Still seems crazy good vfm plus stock exists. I guess when you don't advertise your stock online, it doesn't get sold out!
I’ve had mine for just over 6 months and have done about 600 miles and maybe 140,000 feet of descending.
I’ve persisted with the shock for too long and have just ordered a coil. For the life of me I could not get the DPX2 set up well, it was either too harsh or horribly wallowy/unsupportive. I’ve spoken to J-Tech and had a read on Mtbr and it seems that the bike is more suited to a coil. Hopefully the coil will give the bile the support and sensitivity the DPX2 seems unable to.
I’ve just replaced all the frame bearings (surprisingly easy) as the main pivots were shagged and the rest were notchy. Hopefully the set I’ve just packed with waterproof grease will last a bit longer.
......and as I’ve said before, there is no chance I’d ride this bike on anything that didn’t have a decent gradient.

Ha, sums me up as well!
……and as I’ve said before, there is no chance I’d ride this bike on anything that didn’t have a decent gradient.
That pretty much kills it for me. I might have a handful of lairy descents nearby but it's a ratio of about 30 minutes of suffering for every 30 seconds of fun.
All the uplift venues are hours away and I never get to them anymore.
Debating selling my transition patrol to get one of these, purely for uplift/bike park trips. I have another bike more suited to my local riding.
What do we reckon, waste of time or go for it?
It’s good that reviewers are getting more clued-up though, IMO.
Or more blinkered, or just blinkered to a different thing.
Is Much Better (with) Raisers still being published?
Righto Im tracking one down. Don skeene has s4 grey, but I suspect the bridge has armed guards on it these days so I cant visit, specialized newbury only has s4 burgandy, no one else has responded yet.
To anyone who bought new, does it come with any bits, fork tokens etc? If I end up getting a used one.
Mine came with no spares.
The shock comes fitted with the biggest positive spacer allowed.
I've not looked on the fork to see what is fitted as I've had no issues with it.
There is a long thread on MTBR about the Status that is worth a read.
When I was in Bike Scene Guisborough a couple of months back they had some in. Might be worth giving them a ring as I don't think they were advertising them either.
I had a go on one and loved it. It would have been my choice a few years ago but now I only get to potter around on a hardtail so wrong bike for me at the present. I thought it rode up as well as anything else with the same weight and travel but was great fun on the descents.
