was wondering about getting either these, or is there much benefit in the higher cost Elite ones ?

Needs to be Spesh due footbeds. Thanks
I've got the 2010 model and they are fine. I guess the elite ones may be stiffer (apart form looking more bling), but that is less important on a road bike anyway, because the pedals are larger.
The elites have the ratchet so you can do them up tighter, which I think is worth it. I'd say stiffness is more important on the road as well, not a massive difference there though.
I had some old BG Pro Carbons which were the same upper as the elite but with a carbon sole and they were excellent.
If its just for the insoles bear in mind you don't get the posh ones In the basic shoes, but you can buy them aftermarket and fit to any shoes (not just Spesh).
thanks for feedback. njee, thanks re footbeds, yes, I use the blue ones, plus a wedge, but keen to stick with the inbuilt varus wedge with Spesh - wonky knees and Spesh are better feel than others.
I tried on a pair of Elite's in same size as my mtb ones but they were a tad tight, so waiting for shop to get a bigger size in. Not tried the Sport yet.
update - went to try them both and actually went for the better BG Comp ones with the BOA retention thingy - much more comfy and better fit (apparently they come of a different lathe) , thanks all

I disagree, you can still get hotspots with road pedals if the sole is flexy (I know from experience with BG Sports), get as stiff as you can IMO.
thanks - I have gone for the stiffest ones apart from carbon bling prices !
