After going through drive trains etc for fun lsst year and so far this year using my mtb for everything I'm thinking of taking up the cycle scheme at work and picking up a Langster. Used to ride SS a couple of years ago and for my 10mile round commute it'll suit me fine plus save me a packet in components!
Only trouble is my employer insists on using cycle solutions so trying the bike first is a tad difficult due to location and so far I'm struggling to find a local shop with some in and built up.
I'm 6ft 2in with a 34in inside leg. Thinking the 58cm and that seems to match what the sizing guide says but having zero experience with road frames some advice would be great.
Cheers.
I've an Allez in 58cm, believe they are/where the same frame. I'm the same height and it fits fine.
I'm 6ft 1in and have a 58cm which is spot on for me, I don't have the seatpost fully extended or the saddle all the way back if that helps!
Cheers, reckon I'll be fine then.
One thing you should consider if you're going to use a langster as a commuter is that there's naff-all clearance for mudguards, you cna just about get some to fit with some 'modifications' but some just wont fit at all.
Fair enough. Tbh never really bothered with them anyway, over pants and shower at work does me fine!
Yep, that's a tad annoying. Found the crudcather RoadRacer 2 fitted best.
If you're not going to fit them then I guess a non-issue for you!
FWIW, my Langster managed just shy of 12,000 miles on it's original drivetrain (ok, one BB change in there but rings/chain/freewheel all lasted) and wheels, turned out to be a very economical commuter!
Built some new hoops for it for <£150 and new drivetrain was <£50 so apart from tyres and brake blocks, I'm hoping to get at least another 10,000+ out of it without any major hassles.
Now I like the sound of that! Hassle free commuting 😀
