I am trying to work out if my 2007 Langster is 52cm or 54cm (I bought it second hand). The seat tube measures 50cm from centre of BB to top of seat tube and actual length of top tube is approx 53.5cm.
The Specialized web site says that 54cm Langster has seat tube length of 500mm and top tube length of 548mm. 52cm has seat tube length of 480mm and top tube 537mm. Confused!
The site does say that TT is measured horizontally, does this mean it is the actual length of the TT or because the TT is sloping the measurement parallel with the ground giving a slightly bigger length?
Cheers
If the top tube is measured horizontally then indeed it is a measurement that is parallel to the ground between headtube and seat tube/seatpost. It will be a longer length than the actual sloping top tube length.
For a sloped top tube, its reasonable to expect the horizontal top tube length to be 10 - 20 mm more than the actual physical tube length.
Sounds like a 54cm to me - the actual measurement of the seat tube matches up. Now remeasure the horzontal top tube...
Thanks for that, I will measure horizontal TT tonight but it looks like it is a 54cm.
