Got back from a ride yesterday and the lower shock bolt in the hollowlink had broken. managed to remove the threaded part from the hollowlink and have noticed the hollowlink has had a major failure. A chunk missing and a very serious crack. Any ideas on where i can replace this part, or is my bike fubared now.

Give Specialized a call. Chances are they'll send you a new one. Their warranty is second to none.

I'm not the original purchaser of the bike, and it an 08 model. I would be surprised if they would.

Even though you're not the original owner Specialized will often help you out. Their service is legendary. Drop them a line and ask. It'll cost you nothing and chances are you'll get sorted.
They are one company that has Customer Service sorted.

Any clues on how to contact specialized, been all through their site, and cannot actually see how to ask a question, only answer previously submitted questions.

Bike shop have been in touch with specialized and the part is £50 fitted so pleased with that. I also emailed Specializes who equally replied and knew about my order through Pitsford Cycles, so again was pleased with the speed of the service. Just to get the bike repaired now, as the old clunker is killing me.

Thats why, when looking at getting a new trail bike, I ended up getting a specialized.
It's nice too have the piece of mind.

And guess what, the new one has fractured at exactly the same place.

hard to see, and not quite all the way around yet, have emailed Specialized to see what their thoughts are.

Rotten luck. Installed with rock? 😉

Are you running the correct sized shock? The hollowlink shouldn't make contact with the frame (obivously) and they're not known for snapping. As above, the Betd ones are more robust, if they do 'em for the '08.

Rotten luck, installed by LBS, and its the original shock for the bike.

Just noticed piccy, thats only the angle of the piccy, shock only touches hollowlink through the bolt hole. Am devestated atm.

Cash a bit tight and can't afford a new frame, missus not happy if I've got to pay a further £50 to get replaced again.

TBH I did'nt think much to the welding on the new one, when it came back from the shop.

That should be a straight warranty replacement if it was new and fitted by the shop.

Hmmm, Betd don't appear to make 'em anymore and there's nothing on ebay. If it's correctly installed I'd be standing in a shop politely wanting an explanation that didn't involve too much bike out of action.

thanks anyway. i have spoken to Specialized in brum today and they were excellent. sent them a pic of the bike and the identified it instantly. collect tomorrow from store for £40. it isnt quite the same as yours but at least i got one.

mine was from an 07 stumpy

if you need any parts i would recomend them. they can be called directly and have all the schematics for the bikes and will even post out if your not near by
