I'm on about saddles again. In the latest round of my hunt to replace ye olde Koobi Enduro, I've been thinking about a Specialized saddle.

Does anyone have experience of the Henge and Phenom saddles? If so, which one is more an all day saddle of the two?

Cheers.

I had a henge for years and now went with a phenom, both great saddles.  When I bought the phenom my lbs told me the henge suited riders that pedaled more upright and the phenom suited riders that rode more bent forward.  Two things I really like about the saddles are the short length and the rounded off edges at the sides.  The henge is more flat topped, and the phenom rises a little at the rear.

Yeah, it's mainly the profile shape that is different, the Henge is flat while the Phenom is curved. I like the Henge better having used both, but saddle choice is very personal. The main thing is getting the right width, then you can use Specialized's 30 day exchange to swap if you want to. There's also different levels of padding depending on the exact model , I've got the Henge Expert which is stiff enough for long rides, but it fits me so well I don't need to wear padded shorts with it.

Phenom on my gnarmac bike, and very comfy it is too. Henge is, as mentioned above, a bit more suited to a more upright riding position, so would probably be better for MTB use.

Not had a henge. Have phenoms on both bikes, fine with all day rides, nothing goes numb.

The Henge felt like I was riding on a blade after 5 miles.

Then again everything seems to feel like that at the moment, having real issues finding a seat that doesn't brutalise me.

Cheers all. Might try a Henge on that basis.

Fat boy fat, I feel your pain. I am in the same position. I currently have about 10 failed saddle attempts that have been ridden about 5 times each.

I am currently riding a fizik airione on my road bike and a charge spoon on my mtb.

After a year of finding a replacement for my sdg bell air I think the spoon is by far the best.

I'm 6ft3, 12.5 stone.

I'm about to sell my failed attempts if you are interested including a specialised hedge.

Out of all my attempts the charge spoon was cheapest, £16 from merlin.
