Looking at buying the above bike for UK cross country route, to go with my Giant Trance (150mm trail bike). This would be the standard carbon fibre frame build (120mm Reba fork). Few questions:
- How efficient is the bike on long UK rides (80-100miler rides like the Cairngorm Loop, Badger Divide, Sustrans routes etc).
- Bike appears to be on the heavier side of things (XL is around 13.2kgs), any issues with this ?
- Is it a good climbing bike ? I'm looking for something really efficient & fast, max budget is £2,300.
A mate has the S-Works Epic, I think probably the 22 version. It’s a lovely bike and pretty rapid. This morning we did a 60km “gravel” route - mix of road, fire road, and lots of slop. I was on a gravel bike, him on his Epic, and he seemed fairly comfortable. We dropped the pace on road sections as he was topping out, but otherwise no bother.
I would say it would be close to the perfect bike for the kind of rides you are thinking of
I've got one, think it's probably 2021 but very much the same, I absolutely love it, goes like shit off a shovel when you pedal hard, especially uphill. Possibly not ideal if your long rides have a lot of tarmac or easy gravel but for big cross-country days (mostly Yorkshire Dales for me) I'd struggle to fault it. It doesn't feel heavy to me, but then again I don't have a racing hardtail to compare to.
Just buy one pal 👍 there as good if not better than all the reviews and the amount of time you’ve been asking 🤣🤣🤣
