You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I've just bought a 2nd hand Command Post and the lever is stiff in operation, i've read that the poor lever design is a weak point on the post but wondered if i could change the cable inner and outer for better quality xtr cable and if this would make a difference. I'm guessing the winter grit will make it even worse so want to get it sorted before then.
Is it just standard gear inner and outer that i need?
Any other top tips maintenance wise?
Cheers in advance,
Steve
Bump for the evening crowd.
Hi Steve,
I replaced mine with jagwire gear cable. The only thing you will need to do is either mod the lever a bit to accept the gear/break cable end fitting, or take a file to the new cable end to fit the lever. The former is the better option long term as you only need to do it once.
Also make sure you lube the lever frequently as its not the best design. A bold of grease at each end keeps the winter gunge out.
I believe the new lever is better, but you can also use Joplin,KS and others if the lever gives up on you.

I swapped the original lever on mine for the newer Spesh one that looks like the KS etc lever. When I swapped over I split the outer and put in a couple of middleburn in-liners for gear cables. Also didn't install the metal tube that runs from the lever to route the cable through 90 degrees. Been spot on since.
