Morning all,

My 2014 Camber Evo has developed a slight degree of play in the main pivot (frame/chainstay). Is this a sure sign that the bearings need replacing? The bolt/axle hasn't loosened.

Any harm in continuing to ride it as is before I get some new bearings?

Cheers

Probably a good idea to change the bearings before you wear a grove into the axle, thus needing a new one of them aswell.

Cheers Ricky

I cleaned up the frame and deconstructed it earlier. Fair bit of play in the bearings so ordered a new set. All the other pivots seem fine though.

You may also need a new set of bolts.

I replaced my OEM bearings with Katec bearings a few years ago and didn't need to touch them again - reached the conclusion that the OEM ones aren't sealed very well for our weather conditions

Thanks,I've ordered some from qbikes on ebay. How would I know if the bolt needed replacing too? If there's still play with the new bearings installed?

Yeah I've also concluded that spesh bikes were designed for desert conditions. The alloy nipples on the stock wheels didn't last long in the Derbyshire mud...

Bit surprised as my Enduro bearings lasted 8 years with a little TLC and were not worn out when they were finally replaced...

Perhaps I'm being a little harsh as all the others are still smooth and free from play. Have you maintained yours by repacking them with grease? Apparently they are installed in the factory with no grease. Once I've removed my knackered ones I'll remove the seals and take a look.

My 3 month old Enduro needed a new headset after 150 miles. The PF30 bottom bracket has gone after 300 miles and rear wheel bearings feel as though they've gone too.

Back to the dealer next week 😥

Not good. Mine was still on original headset bearings too. It was a fairly high end Cane Creek as standard - which may have helped. Must admit I'm not keen on BB30 or PF30, because of short lifespan.

My headset is fine but the pf bb30 bb lasted about a year and it wasn't easy to remove! The wheels manufacturing one is fairing better and it should be easier to swap the bearings out once they're shot.
