In the market to upgrade my road bike with a bit of Cycle 2 Work and a bit of topping up and the Allez Sprint has caught my eye.
Would be a do all bike (can't afford more than one for the road) so club rides, sportives, races, time trials, triathlons etc etc.
Only shop with one in stock locally is the Specialized Concept Store but they have it in a 56, not 58 (which I need!) so can't sit on the thing before I order it!! Best they can do is set up their BG Fit Rig for the geometry - better than nothing but thought I would ask for first hand experiences!!
It's a specialized, so really poor value for money. THe angles look very steep, it's got a daft shaped inline seatpost; you probably won't be able to get the saddle far enough rearward for a comfy position.
You say poor value for money, and historically I'd agree with you, but 2017 bikes seemed to have shot up yet again, making the Specialized prices good value!
I quite like it. Seems to me something you'd buy more as a crit race bike rather than a do it all road bike.
And reading the blurb crit racer is where it's aimed at!
Just struggling this year to going anything suited as a do it all bike around £1300! Plenty of alu standard options at £1000, but wanted that little bit more
Giant will have something better. Or planet x
Cheapest TCR Advanced Pro with 105 is a shade over 1400 quid. Probably a better contender for versatile road race bike.
Now sat on an allez sprint and it's not for me!
Top of the list at the moment is a Trek Emonda
Put in a fair few miles on an Emonda hire bike a while back, an alu one with ultegra group. Nice ride.
Its a bit pointy so the young or flexible need apply but that paint job is very nice that IMO is way more important than components that will get replaced anyway.
£1400 and you don't get a set of complete wheels! 😯
