7' 2" tall! Yikes! Steve (on the left) isn't a particularly short chap (Loves a bit of Iron Maiden, too!) but he's being made to look teeny tiny here!

thats why i sold my trek, there geometry is no where near specailised's for tall peoples comfort!

please have a look. the camber comp i tried 2 weeks ago was perfect but i dont need a full sus bike. im 6ft 4 and the seat was the same height as the stem. must have something to do with 29er geometry.

the carve pro hardtail is nearly the same as the camber. lovely fit!

I probably need the saddle a triffle hi due to pour knees. So this is the first bike I've ridden with the seat post the right side of the min insertion point

On a spec' fsr with the saddle that high I am way out behind the bottom bracket. That's because the seat post is steeper than on a convetional bike. I try and go up hill and the front wheel just lifts

They trek is way comfy for me. I needed a shorter stem but I could easily ride on the road with the bars lower. Can you really imagine a bike with bars at the same height as that seat.

I road the Explosif in the last shot a year ago. I can't get that low any more. But its hardly a mad riding position even on the Kona's

spesh are decent bikes but I don't think they've ever been accused of being unique or groundbreaking before

6'4" and I've a Voodoo and a Salsa that both fit me grand. Giants in XL do too.

I don't mind quite a lot of drop though, but there's not too much on the above.

All this for one poxy HT Spesh? A fourth, identical thread Chalky?

Chalky, in the three other threads you've started on this exact same topic you've had plenty of advice and recommendations, all of which you've ignored because you favour your beloved Spesh (which you don't actually seem to have taken for a test ride).

Spare us all and just buy the bloody Spesh. You clearly want it and you clearly don't want anyone to divert you from that path.

Really this thread is based on a false premise that all tall blokes are the same geometry themselves.

I'm 6'7" yet when I sit down you'd probably not really know it from my body height. I very rarely have headroom problems in cars. Legroom, on the other hand... I couldn't actually drive the 1st generation Clio because my left knee stopped me getting it out of first gear.

Differences in body ratios are universal across all heights, but they're accentuated in tall men. That Trek would probably be pretty good for me... shortish reach and high saddle.

And I don't *want* my seat the same height as the stem. It'd be like riding a dutch city bike.

Oops carve is a hard tail. But still beware the bent seat tube. specialized do go one bigger with an XXL which is a plus point if you really want a big bike.I just looked at the spec. That's the first time I've seen a top tube over 26 inches

I still think you should try some hamstring stretches

im 6ft 3.5inches tall and cant find another manufacturer with the same geometry as specialised.

i love the fact the seat is the same or nearly the same height as the stem if only a bit taller. you dont feel so arched over as you do with others.

You are not that tall and might have relatively long legs / short body / short arms / inflexible back, so the bike that fits you suits that combination. Given I have longer legs than you, the saddle would still be above the bars for me, so one frame doesn't fit all.

But if that's the case and it seems likely then I'm not sure a a 26 inch top tube would help

To the OP. The most blindingly obvious piece of bike fit advice I ever saw was on the website of a custom frame builder. It said something like.

" we will assume that you will achieved the correct position of your contact point on an existing bike. This is cheap and easy to do with low cost stems seat post etc, we can help you with this if necessary. Once you know where you want the contact points we can the build a frame to get the handling stem length etc. correct"

So its shame you sold the Trek really as a set of silly pointy up stems would have told you where you want the bars

6'6" here and always got on with XL Specialized, I've owned a Stumpy HT, Enduro, FSR XC and still ride a Tricross now. All really nice long top tubes and wheelbase. Riding a 22" Five at the moment which is also fairly stupidly long, also got a 29er Scandal, doubt you'd get on with the tiny head tube given the OP comments about bar height.

Tried a Trance X and found it a bit gate feeling, no idea why, the numbers said it was long, might be the low BB on the Specialized.
