I am replacing my Spesh Ambush after cracking it in a tumble the other week. The 2020 version comes with Angi, now no paid subscription either. Useful or gimmick ?
Dunno yet but I have bought a sensor to fit my Bell lid for my solo crashing sessions.
I reckon it's a great idea and would be interested to know other people's experiences also.
When it works it is good, but I struggle to connect mine via Android. Sometimes I have to turn my phone off and on to get it connected. Because of that faff factor, I usually don't bother...
Might try changing the battery to see if that makes any difference.
Great idea, but ..
Thankfully, mine has not gone off in anger.
But I use it to track all my rides through the app, and it works seamlessly. Seems more generous with distance and elevation than the equivalent Strava app. Probably because it pings the GPS more often, and possibly because it has a much less obstructed view of the satellites being placed on your bonce.
It has always connected fine with my phone so far (also Android, so YMMV).
There's a setting which you can adjust to give you time to react after a big off, so it won't go calling all and sundry as soon as it detects a crash.
So far, so good.
If you like the helmet anyway, there's no reason not to get one again with the sensor.
Great, ordered, thanks. I love the fit of the helmet so I guess this is an added feature. I track rides on Garmin into Strava so won’t use that bit, but the peace of mind for my wife will be good.
Will have app on my iPhone.
The ANGI bit doesn't 'ping' satellites or listen to them - it just uses your phone GPS. Differences in elevation or distance etc will be down to differences in the algorithms used to smooth the GPS data.
