Looking to buy a new road bike around the 1 to 1.5K mark. 2 of the top contenders are the Cannondale Caad 12 105 and Canyon Ultimate Al 9.0 SLX. The cannondale gets great reviews (5 stars and bike of the year 2016) However with the Canyon your getting much more for your money. So should I trust the experts and go for the cannondale or would you recommend something else entirely?
Depends what you mean by "more for your money". I'm guessing you mean a higher spec group set?
Reckon most people who know about road bikes would go for the CAAD 12. Probably the most well regarded aluminium frame set out there.
The Canyon only represents good value if it actually arrives on your doorstep once you've paid for it. I was going to buy one but all the negative reviews regarding delivery and customer service put me off.
Not to mention an actual dealer network for support if you have any issues, what that is worth to you I dunno, but it IS worth something.
Do you value being able to go to a shop ride it touch it etc? Take it back a few weeks later for a fettle etc?
