Anyone know if one exists? I have some road pedals that I want to try with spd shoes before I buy road shoes...

Nope, most shoes/pedals (inc MTB) rely on the pedal resting on the hard plastic underside of the cleat area, if someone did make a 2-bolt spd-sl the pedal would interfere with the tread and not be able to float if it was digging into soft rubber.
Most of the benefit is in the stiffer sole of the shoe anyway, the cleat just complements that.
