Planning on building up a front wheel and have an option of a Spoon 32 or a Race28 both new.
I know the Spoon 32 isn't "tubeless ready" and the Race 28 is but I'd like the extra width if possible.
I'm going to sell the one I don't use "as new" so didn't want to tape up the Spoon to test. I know the Race28's seal easy (Jnr has some 26") and I know you can get almost anything to seal but don't want it burping or somnething and as its for Jnr (35kg) will be running low pressures. He's also pretty hard on wheels despite his weight..
Anythings tubeless if you go ghetto.
Has the spank got the grooves around the internal side of the tyre bead ?
If so, it’ll be ok tubeless

The Race has big grooves but the Spoon has much smaller ones.
Spank website lists the Spoon as "not recommended" for tubeless.

I never failed to get anything to seat/seal at home with a airshot-alike however if the 10yr old can't get it back by himself with a portable pump or it burps everything out when he sends a huge drop it's not really an option. [he's a somewhat aggressive rider]... TBF would be more worried about the latter on the rear given his love of whipping and landing side on for a brrrrap... especially after watching some of the older kids he rides with land with a noise like a gunshot in a explosion of sealant.
He's been running 26" wheels with Race28 rims and he can reseat them himself.
So I figured sod it... just reused some tape off another rim only half the width and stuck in a valve..brand new tyre ..... pop...... up first go!
