Hey folks off to Spain in a couple of weeks , Vera to be precise. Anyhoo was looking for advice on Garmin maps for the region. I'll probably just hire a road bike so dont really anything to detailed but the equivalent of the talkytoaster ones would be great.

Any advice would be appreciated , thanks folks.

If you have basecamp on your pc the you can use the maps from Velomap.org. I like that as a solution as I find it easier to create routes than directly on a garmin. It's just another version of openstreetmaps like the dcr link but they have been tweaked nicely for road riding

I've used this website for Spain, Italy and Romania. Seems to work quite well. It even had the bike trails I was riding in Romania 2 weeks ago.

the openmtb map site is done by the same person as velomap, just that the maps are optimised for mtb rather than road biking

'Topohispania' is the reference there, you need to register in this forum to download them, they're free: http://www.elgps.com/foroGPS/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=8646

If you need a hand with the language let me know.
