got my 10 speed parts on Friday and spent a few hours that night fitting the parts on....then went for a blast around Llandegla on Saturday.

was an awesome day out...i was really happy how the bike is now set up...climbs really well and descends like a beast.

there was an enduro race being held there in the evening so it was pretty busy but the conditions were perfect...
the bonus was that we got our pictures taken by a photographer as we were doing one of the descents...just need to try and track down the picture now

I spent the weekend mostly going round in circles with a crit race on Saturday and a road race on Sunday that was more like crit course than road race course and i got cut up mid sprint by a chopper to so finished with my worst result in a long time. 🙁

A gloriously sunny Afan Penhydd and W2 on Friday/Saturday followed by a very soggy (but still brilliant) Bike Park Wales on Sunday. 8)

A big training ride on Saturday marred only by a stupid wrong turn due to completely crap signage. Added about 8 miles to an already long day.

[img] [/img]

Went out for a short local ride on Sunday but I was riding like an absolute muppet. Falling off all over the place and my mind was all over the place. Sacked it after 6 miles.

A weekend of trail centre mincing for me at Llandegla on sat (inc mini endure) and BPW on Sunday... sorry if I offended anyone by not getting enough air although I did get about 3 foot (unintentionally) on Enter The Dragon 😆

I too went for a trianing ride on my new roadie, as you do.
Saturday: Hacked the South Downs, from Warsash up to Upham, Owlesberry, Cheriton, High Cross, Steep, High Cross, East Meon, Old Winny Hill, West Meon, Dundridge, Bishops Waltham, Botley, home.
All on Hampshires finest single lanes, bloosy hell they have suffered over the rainy season... 😯
Sunday: Similar route except a short cut halfway round which enabled me to get home to watch Kuerne - Brussels - Kuerne on Eurosplat and veg on the sofa replenished with Hampshire Air.

Utterly Fab. 8)

Glentress Black
First time on it. Tough ride and some of the technical bits were a bit too hard as they were quite wet and muddy.

what time were you there? we got there at around 2pm and the car park was heaving...it seemed quieter by about 5pm when we finished.
we kept seeing the same chap on the red route....probably in his early 60's on a hardtail pulling a heavy trailer behind him...he said he was training for the C2C and even had over 15kg of kit in the trailer...hats off to the guy...he managed most of the climbs without having to push

Various techy trails around Cottingly, Harden Moor, St Ives etc on a shake down ride for two freshly built/rebuild full bouncers. Was great...

On-One Chunkey Monkey (2.4 dual compound) / Smorgasboard (2.25 single compound) tyre combo are awesome and no chain drop on the new 1x10 Narrow/Wide setup despite my best attempts as smashing through all manner of rooty and rocky trails.

The sun was even out 😀

Stoke on Trent (historic town on the river trent, it's a vibrant mix of the great and the good)

From Trentham up to Hanchurch, down dog lane, up 3 mile lane eventually to Keele, down Keele bank (weeee) up through the newly laid greenway from 'Castle to Silverdale park, through there to Apedale, down the A34 for a bit of urban warrior'ing through 'Castle and back through the lyme valley park. My mate was really strong for a change and pushed me for the whole ride, so I loved that.

I arrived around 1130, car park was pretty full but it was a lot quieter after my warm up lap.

Sick to death of slogging through axle deep bogs, I decided to enjoy the sunshine and ride somewhere not involving a virtually continuous quagmire, so I got the bouncy bike out of hibernation and headed to Clayton Vale. And very good fun it was too. And good to see it busy. What a great little group of trails to have so close to a city centre 😀

Grizedale red/North Face - kids family thingy

No idea what would possess anyone to ride that in total of why it can actually be described as purpose built.

Also did it on the Sunday - they day of perma drizzle interspersed with heavy rain rather than the sunny Saturday

Still it was a bike ride so could have been worse

Gonzy - its a keeper indeed. I've had the thing years. Its a proper Triggers Broom. I haven't ridden it that much recently, but when I've had offers to sell it, I just can't. We're too attached. I can see it getting out a lot more now

Ladybower, WLT, Hag Farm, Win Hill, lots of cheeky.
Lugging a 39lb Patriot over 22 miles and 3500ft ascent - characterbuilding. 😉
NB the climb from near the bottom of Beast (fluffy kitten) to Win Hill has been trashed by forestry machinery. DON'T go that way!

Hi Binners

Do you know how do the trails at Clayton compare to the red ones at Phillips Park in Prestwich?

I went up to the Prestwich trails yesterday and thought they were good fun. Clayton would be even closer for me though.

Was intending on going to Macclesfield Forest but after hardly any sleep, wet weather and the realisation I didn't even have any spare tubes I sacked it off for Prestwich- was decent fun for a a few hours though and even racked up some climbing after repeatedly going up that hill in the middle.

Took my new CdF out for a spin, through some parks in Sheffield and out into the Peak. Out and back over Houndkirk Moor was a nice introduction to drop bars and skinny tyres.

Binners, she is indeed a beauty.

Think I had a quick spin on the rollers in the utility room on Friday evening. Hard to remember as in a sleep deprived fog due to three week old miss blobby jr. Going to try and get outdoors for a local lunchtime road ride today though.

I've a cold / sore throat so I too dropped the long road ride, picked up my HT and decide to ride a social in the muddy woods.

I'm glad I did, I think I'd forgotten "just having fun" for a bit, and had a great ride which reminded me also how much fun my HT is.

🙂

We were there as well. Lovely in the sunshine on the way up but freezing cold and snowing at the top of Minch Moor.

legs were leaden on Sunday after a fraught (and late) Friday and curling all day Saturday - but dragged myself out, and up within tighter than I would have liked timescale. Not all bad though:

(apologies for the flattened track, used to be a much more challenging peaty double track)

Peaks for me on Saturday, taking in Potato Alley, Screaming Mile, Hag Farm Switchbacks and the descent from Hope Cross to Hope. Had a great time in the beautiful sunshine.

No biking Sunday, Sunday lunch/evening with friends, eat far to much to contemplate riding a bike afterwards!

Dugann - if you're close to Clayton vale then it's well worth a trip down. Very similar roller-coaster stuff to Phillip Park but they've added In a few twisty descents with rock drop offs in. And it's longer than Phillip park. 10k in all.

I thought it was great. A big bonus was it's all well drained so no mud. Get yourself down there!

100km club ride on Sat on the nice bike. Swinley on Sunday in a group ride (of one). Since most of the trails were closed, it gave me a chance to ride Crowthorne Woods, most of the various Gorick race courses and a few lines I've been missing since th e trailcentrefication. Hardly saw another rider all morning, despite the large number in the car park moaning. I could have made a fortune offering guide services 😉

In the event, I settled for tea and shortcake.

Lots of Cannock this weekend. Was spectacularly good and Spring-like on Saturday, drizzle and some sort of organised ride on Sunday but I dodged that bullet and damp but sunny today. Good to be out.

Timber Trail. split over two days so camped at Piro piro Flats campsite. Awesome trail, steady ten mile climb on the first day followed by 20 mile downhill. Second day 5 mile climb and then downhill for 27 miles. Cold camp out but still smiling.

Haldon on Saturday.

Big shout out to the trail fairies who have done a fantastic job getting the place ship shape again. Funny how different the place feels with so many trees down- got new views all of a sudden...

Introducing Scooby the trail hound borrowed for the day- part greyhound part lurcher, really quick... think I wore him out though...

I set off from home to do my regular weekly ride in the peak but arrived 5 minutes late.

So I kept going and rode Snowdon on Saturday and cadair idris on Sunday. Well, the wife was away, I had a full tank of diesel and the weather in Sheffield was good...

Glentress, took the full suss out for it's first ride and it duly loosened a linkage bolt that necessitated removing the cranks to do it up. Got there early and managed to get about 4hrs in and left just before the rain came.

Macc Forest on Saturday, trying to find all the cheeky stuff. Very steep and slippery, managed to fit in 3200ft of climbing in 16 miles.

Look forward to going back and riding it in the dry.

Innerleithen Red for me too, lovely ride up in the sun with snow underwheel, rain under the trees as the snow melted with the sun belting through the branches was a bit surreal. Some of the downhills have suffered badly over the winter though, think I bent my front axle in a puddle that turned out to be a pothole!
My wee dog was freezing up the top, it was decidedly chilly.

I think I might have been riding with Selkirkbear, if he is who I think he is....

Had a tough one - took the kids round upper derwent / Howden resevoirs in the Peak, weather got bad half-way out, turned into a bit of a character-former. 2yo shivering in the child seat, crying her eyes out. Our 5yo was soldiering on through the wind and the rain, sobbing 'I'm keeping going Daddy'. That's mountain biking son 🙂
I wasn't in great form myself - cycling 5 mph is slow enough to freeze the pants off you if it's wet and windy.

I couldn't get my new shifter working (bent hanger maybe) so the FS was out of commission. Had a tubeless disaster on the HT so I went out on the roadie. 40km round Oldham, Manchester, Salford, Heaton Park and Middleton. It was alright actually.
