Hypothetically ...
Wiggo blows up in the mountains and Nibali/Evans open up a 5 min + break on him? Do they:
A: Stick with the game plan, hope Froome drags him to the end without that much time being lost and count on him making it up in the TT..or
B: Leave Wiggo to his own devices and send Froome off in pursuit (assuming hes in a condition to do so), effectively putting their eggs firmly in the Froome Basket.
C: Something else I haven't thought of...

They'll stick with Wiggins until it becomes impossible, and Froome will go with that game plan until he is told different because he wants to be able to ride for Sky next year, or because he wants to get another job in another team.
You don't employ riders who will mess up team-mates.
He'll stick with Wiggins initially, but will be off way before a 5min gap develops.
