Don't forget...

Will be signing up for both myself and the lad for all the proper championship rounds...

That'll be an expensive morning for me !

Anyone else coming to play next year in Southerns ?

I might do the odd round. Maybe my lad will too, but I think mostly it will be fitting things around the xc that he will be doing along with Mrs Yak.
What I really want is one of those 'big day out' enduros to target. Ard Rock? Dunno yet.

You may like the Haibike stuff then mate... that was a proper big day out with hills and views etc.

£47 for milland?? That feels like its a chunk more expensive than this year.

Unless of course my memory is failing me (quite possible!)

Its a good day out regardless, so have no doubt i will sign up for it.

Hopefully they'll run some open days and evenings at Milland like this year. It was nice to pop along and have a few hours on the hill after work.

@Weeksy Tickets were £10 and sold alongside all the other race events on the website. They were advertised on the Southern Enduro Facebook page too.

Interested in this. Never done an enduro before but really tempted to go all in and sign up for the whole series.
How ridiculous are the courses? I'm not one for jumps.
What can I expect?

Imo they're hard. But it's tech hard not launch into space hard. Chutes and roots, that's more the tech.

If you know FoD it's more sheepskull than Countdown.

'challenging' is more the phrase for me

@weeksy - thanks. I've got into Ard Rock so will just sign up to the first couple and see how I get on. See you there!

@dknwhy - it kinda depends what riding you do. I dont find anything at the southern enduro's particularly challenging (i would consider myself an average rider). There are a few spots where you have to choose your lines, but nothing that is death defying. Jumps are minimal and there are chicken lines.

I havent done Ard Rock, but my two riding buddies have. We all ride at a similar level. So if a Southern Enduro event is outside your skillset, its highly likely the Ard Rock will be too.

Having said all that, sign up and give it a go. Its generally a really fun day out!

I said this on a previous post, but they are very different skillsets. When there's a wet* Southern race, I struggle. There was a Milland one a few years back where practise was dry and I had a great time; then the heavens opened for the race and it was a completely different course that I slowly skidded and tripodded down.

I did ard rock sport this year and found it easier from a technical point of view, only bits that I found difficult were the wet woods at the bottom of stage 2 - so the bit most like the Southerns!

ard rock was higher speed and rocky (duh) and there are a few bits where you could properly hurt yourself if you go off line.

*I know they are booked months in advance but Scott has this amazing ability to pick rainy days in the middle of summer.

@ayjaydoubleyou - fair play. I guess thats why its so hard to advise on whether something is challenging or not, due to everyone's different skillsets.

I have done milland twice this year, i am guessing same events as you. Such a fun venue for what is just one small hillside. Lets pray for no rain in 2022!

im in for Milland and the Champs.

Always struggle with the QECP one, as its trails you can ride for free. But might sign up last minute.

Also got into Ard Rock. And looking at doing the Megavalanche, so it should be a good year for racing/events/fun!

great list V7..

We're still debating on phase 2... we've got Morzine in August and i've got Gent Wevelgem in March... but i think he's thinking Gravity Enduro series as well... and if he does, i'm wondering if we need to think about a DH bike.

afraid not mate sorry, we cancelled ours and moved to DH race at Forest of Dean for the lad on his new bike, but he's now got a broken metatarsal anyway, so not sure we'll be riding at all.

Tickets open in a few weeks for the later rounds. I think me and the lad will do the late Sept round at Milland as we've already signed up for the practice on the 23rd July.. so makes sense to get out and put it into a race effort too.

Anyone else up for a bit ?

Still planning on entering Triscombe when it opens. I’m doing Tiverton in a few weeks, mostly because I’ve barely done anything this year, although having watched some videos, I’m probably going to race my XC bike. 🤦‍♂️😆
