Hi all, we’ve got a weekend away in South wales this weekend. BPW on the Sunday, and the Friday and Saturday we were hoping for a trail centre day and an off piste day.
any recommendations about what’s running well post storm? Would have liked to do a big loop at Afan if it’s all running. Also how are the Masts running?
thanks!
With Afan there were a lot of trails closed and diversions before the storm, the NRW website will tell you what these are. I wouldn't bother doing Y Wal with the current diversions as you'll spend most of your day grinding up and down fire roads.
I've heard Bluescar is clear but no idea about the rest of it.
The Masts didn't fare particularly well after Storm Bert (but were ridable), I don't know anyone who's been daft enough to go up there since the weekend so it's probably even worse. If you're on FB you could try posting on the Afan and Glyncorrwg group (link) in case there's someone with more up to date info!
No point going west (Brechfa) as it's been flattened and NRW have closed the entire forest.
If you want to go a bit further east I've heard that Cwmcarn is mostly clear and running really well.
I'll be at BPW Fri-Sun, either on a black S-Works Kenevo SL or a white Commencal FRS -- feel free to say hi!
I know it's north wales, but Llandegla is still closed today, and they've got a reasonable sized team to get out there and clear the trails
Thanks for the advice! Cwmcarn + Off piste was really fun last time, so that might be a safe bet!
Actually considering looking at the Gap at Brecon, if the weathers right could be a good option. I will write off Afan and the Masts for a while I think.
@ngnm I will look out for you Sunday, should be a big group of us, on a Hightower, Duck egg colour levo SL and a Silver heckler SL
