I'm after some suggestions.

I'm after a new soul but can't stretch to a full bike build.

Is there a second hand or cheap bike that I could look to find to source for compatible parts (boost wheels, 1x etc) then sell the bits I don't need.

Or any other bright ideas from people - thanks

Very disappointed, thought this  was going to be more metaphysical.

Reminded me of the old joke, Piers Morgan recently had an arsehole transplant, the arsehole rejected him.

TBH, I think you’re going to do better lurking classifieds and eBay than buying a donor bike new.

Usual advice, set a budget and then make a wish list and see where you’re likely to need to compromise.  Maybe look at those Fox Rhythms that Bike components de are knocking out cheap (they also have 27.5 32’s and 34’s around 270euro)?  There are some Good wheel bargains about still too.

I've got a 2017 Giant Trance 2 and the wheels on that are pretty good - light enough and wide-ish. I'd like a pair of hope/stans but really can't justify changing.

There is a pair  for sale on ebay at the moment for £75. seems like a good deal to get you started.

Cheers Slackboy, I'd seen those already.

Probably should get the frame first in case I change my mind or someone decides to give me 2k:-)
