Afternoon all,
The twist in the dilemma is that it needs to be from Evans as I have been given vouchers as a leaving present.
I've got it down to the 3 that i'm most interested in.
I'm riding all 3 of these on Saturday but just wanted to get a general head up / feel from anyone who owns or has owned these...
1. Genesis Core 100 2013
2. Genesis Mantle 10 2013
3. Specialized Rockhopper 2013
This purchase has largely been driven by entering the L2B and not really wanting to do it on a full suspension, but i imagine it will get some good miles after the event also.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Mantle 10 would be my shout.
Best spec by a margin...
Cheers

I'd buy the one with the best spec and then put the bits on another frame when you can, a few nice steel ht frames around at the moment, eg Dialed Prince Alberts for example £200
Nothing to be sorry about, "what bike?" threads are the soul of this forum.
(Sorry I have no idea! A 29er HT if any of those are ... yes the Mantle as it has proper sized wheels, especially for L2B, and is UK designed).
Thanks guys,
I'm kind of swaying towards the mantle. Not ridden a 29er yet but it sounds like it would be the most suited to the kind of riding i'd be doing.
As soon as I entered the L2B I started looking at Coves, Dialled and Evil frames but that plan was scuppered by the amount of Evans vouchers!
Could you flog the Evans vouchers and buy the bike you wanted? Its a nice thought and you would still be buying a bike so shouldn't offend (unless you worked at Evans of course!).
Also, if you can put too the Mantle 20 is well well worth the extra. Perhaps barter a bit on a Mantle 20 as well.
Cheers

In theory i could sell them yes, but in total i have just about enough to cover the cost of the mantle 10, and i'm pretty sure i'll be able to find a bike that suits. I'm still not 100% sure on the bike i want - thats the problem, but hopefully i'll get a better idea after i've ridden them.
I do like the look of the 20 - alot, but I can't justify that at the moment especially as I'm buying this specifically for the L2B.
Ha ha, just read that back........don't think i've ever been able to really justify any of my bikes
My only comment on the 3 you've picked is the forks on all are a particular weakness.
If you think you're going to use it some afterward the the 20 would be the way to go...
Cheers
Danny
Thanks Danny,
Do you mean a weakness in terms of build quality or performance?
Went for the Mantle. Out of the 3 it won hands down, although I was really impressed about how good the core felt!
