Supposed to be meeting a mate for a road ride round there tomorrow - he'd be heading down from Manchester, I'm heading up from Matlock.
Seems to be a yellow snow and ice warning in force tomorrow morning, so I'm wondering whether to sack off the riding and just meet for brunch, or sack off the whole idea - reports suggested it was bad round Buxton this morning with more snow showers forecast tonight.
Anyone been out that way today?
Thanks
I would ask again at 9am in the morning if I were you.
Today where I live you could stand on your own 2 feet. Yesterday everyone was falling over
Cheers guys - sadly in order to fit in round family stuff we'd both need to be on the road at 8.30 tomorrow!
I have work collegues that live in Buxton. There's been comms to say all the buxton roads are closed with snow but I'm in leek and there fa snow here. If it were me I'd not be doing any road riding this weekend. Fat tyres and offroad or walking. Go for a stomp over Eyam Moor perhaps? there's a stone circle there iirc. Or along the river at Youlgreave, tons of walking choices with cafes and pubs en route.
Was thinking of a walking option instead - I should be ok getting up there from Derby on the main roads, it's my mates journey down from Manchester past Buxton that will be the more ice/snow prone.
Take it easy driving around the peaks - I just drove from Sheffield to Castleton and got... shall we say... "loose" around a corner on the A57... Saw someone else had crashed just coming out as well so I assume the ice is pretty widespread.
